It’s pretty common to see the Blues auction off game-used equipment from players over the course of the season. However, unless you’re an extremely passionate collector, you probably missed out on those opportunities as they usually unfold into bidding wars which consume an insane amount of time and money. Now, you can own game-used jerseys from a variety of Blues skaters with some prices which are more reasonable than you might think.
The crew over at Fanatics (the same folks who supplied those crazy stats about Blues merch flying off the shelves) are selling game-used jerseys worn between the dates of February 4th, 2016 to April, 3rd 2016. They have a special agreement with the Blues to acquire the game-used sweaters after the game wraps up. Jerseys from the epic Game 3 blowout are ones which can now be purchased. No telling if that includes a complimentary blown kiss from Ryan Reaves.
Tarasenko’s game-used jersey, the most popular of the bunch, can be added to your collection if you have $4,499.99. Other Blues players are a lot more affordable (relatively speaking), including Colton Parayko ($1,749.99), Alexander Steen ($1,499.99) and Jaden Schwartz ($799.99). Auctions, not fixed-price listings, have seen a majority of game-used jerseys sell for well over $2,000 each which makes a player like Schwartz look like a bargain.
One of the coolest things offered – besides the jersey itself – is the Certificate of Authenticity which is signed by equipment manager Bert Godin and Blues President and CEO of Business Operations Chris Zimmerman.
If those prices seem steep, there are other items which could be a solid addition to a collection. An autographed game puck from Tarasenko ($79.99) or a David Backes autographed photo ($39.99) are much more affordable. You can always take a shot at the autographed pucks the Blues sell in the arena on special occasions, but you usually won’t get the player you want. Believe me. Fate wanted me to unwrap a puck autographed by Patrik Berglund and that’s exactly what happened.
Long story short, there’s some cool collectibles out there now that the Blues have made a solid playoff run. You just have to know where to find them.
