Herm Edwards seems to think people are still listening to him, like he has some kind of tie in to Tampa Bay because he coached here.
The Times quotes Edwards commenting on the current Bucs, and hes not very kind in his description of current Bucs players…
“They had a little success last year, and they got a little full of themselves in the offseason.”
“I look at the personalities (Josh Freeman) has to deal with — Kellen Winslow, Mike Williams, LeGarrette Blount. He’s looking at all this mess saying, ‘Really?’ “
“When you have players who have some character flaws in the locker room, there’s no steady force. When you’re winning, it’s okay. When you hit tough times, they take over. And when you lose, it’s magnified.”
— ESPN analyst and Former Jets and Chiefs coach Herm Edwards, who gave Bucs coach Raheem Morris his start in the NFL.
Edwards was shocked the Bucs claimed Albert Haynesworth, who was basically chased out of town in Washington and New England, off waivers last week. He was even more aghast when Freeman called him a ‘mentor’ this week.
“Why bring in a guy who doesn’t like football?” Edwards said. “You want that guy influencing your young football team?
“I see that Raheem got on them for not giving effort. But when you have players who have some character flaws in the locker room, there’s no steady force. When you’re winning, it’s okay. When you hit tough times, they take over. And when you lose, it’s magnified.”
Maybe Herm, you should stick to your Mike and Mike gig, the last stop on your career that featured, well, pretty much nothing. You failed to have a winning record after appearing on HARD KNOCKS, couldnt find a decent QB, so now your going to question Josh Freeman? I think I will take FREEMAN’s word that Albert Hanesworth is a mentor in the lockeroom than your word- you never coached him. Your just going on the same hearsay everyone else is- so who needs you to say it?
Your heyday was your ‘free agent’ move from head coach of the Jets to KC. Thats it, all that you’ve accomplished. You had about as much say in bringing in Raheem Morris as Rich McKay did. Jon Gruden is all I’ve ever heard from Raheem Morris’ mouth as far as respect goes, him and Mike Tomlin. Herm Edwards? Just a footnote in Eagles history for his “miracle in the meadowland” as far as I’m concerned. He knows NOTHING about THIS current Bucs team.
