…Milwaukee is back!
The Brewers finished off the sweep of Houston on Wednesday afternoon, with an 11th inning 3-run walk off homer by backup catcher Damian Miller.
Dave Bush got the win…in relief. Bush pitched a scoreless 10th and 11th, allowing just two walks and a hit.
Miller caught the game, and upped his BA with a 3-for-5 day, and four ribbies total. Billy Hall also went 3-for-5.
The Brewers remain in first, still 7 ahead of Chicago in the loss column, with a 46-32 mark. The Crew has a day off tomorrow, and sends Yovani “YoGa” Gallardo to the mound against the Cubs and Rich Hill (5-5, 3.13)…Hill’s ERA was a mere 1.77 in April, but 4.66 in May and 3.26 so far in June. Hill pitched 6+ innings in 12 of his first 13 starts, but went only 3 innings against the Padres on June 17th, and 5.67 IP against the White Sox on June 23rd.
Ben Sheets (9-3, 3.09) is slated to face off against lefty Sean Marshall (4-2, 2.44) on Saturday, while Jason Marquis (5-4, 3.46, and benched this week on my fantasy team) goes for the Cubs against either Chris Capuano or Claudio Vargas. Capuano pitched a simulated game on Wednesday, and is more likely to start next Tuesday in Pittsburgh…the article also reminds us that Capuano started the season 5-0, but has gone 0-5 in his last five decisions….
