I'm gonna be quick about this because I've ranted on it before, but apparently it's still a problem. Perk is up to 8 techs after yesterday. Suspensions start at 16… so he's half way there. And no, I don't care that he might not have deserved it:
“This is one I’m calling in, because I don’t believe I deserve it,” Perkins said of his plan to appeal the call. “I’m not concerned. I talked to (Bavetta) in the right way, and he respected that.
The problem is not with this tech in particular… but the fact that he's getting T'd up for nothing now. It shows that refs know he's becoming a hot head, so they're getting quick on the trigger. It's a side effect that Perk clearly hasn't thought about. Each T makes it easier for him to get the next one. He's got to shut the hell up now before he gets a tech for just walking out onto the court.
And then there's this, from Hoops Addict:
* Rivers joked with the media about Kendrick Perkins trying to calm Leon Powe down because, “It’s ironic when Perk calms down anyone because clearly no one is getting to him.”
I've counted two public "Perk isn't listening" comments from Doc on his technicals now. You know how people will joke about something they're serious about so they can send a not-so-subtle message? That seems to be what's happening here. I'm taking a total guess here… but I wouldn't be shocked if the team suspended Perk for his techs before the league did if he doesn't address it.
