Some members of the Union Blue team were invited to visit the Time Warner HD Lounge last night during the game and what a wonderful experience it was. With our home arena sitting in a district full of restaurants, and with the assumption sometimes that hockey food is “pitza” and hot dogs, many of us often get our eats before heading in to the game, but you may want to rethink that!
Nestled under the seats in sections 113 – 116, is a gorgeous restaurant experience that is certainly worth the price. The lounge is open throughout the game, and in addition to top notch food, it has a bar, tons of tv’s to watch hockey and great service.
We were fortunate to visit with Chef de Cuisine, John DiGiovanni. With a lifetime of experience including a culinary education from the Disney Culinary Institute, Chef really knows how to provide great food. The menu was diverse and interesting and many of the items were prepared in single serving plates or spoons that made them perfect to grab and take with you so you didn’t miss a second of hockey. There’s snacks, salads, entrees, and even desserts. You can see a video tour that Chef prepared HERE and our pictures from the night HERE.
The hallmark item last night was the dish that Chef DiGiovanni is preparing at this week’s Epcot Food Festival in Orlando: Whiskey Braised Pork Cheeks with Sweet Potato Puree and Apple-Walnut Gremolata. It was amazing. The flavors were outstanding and the pork was so tender we didn’t even need to use a knife. The fact that it was paired with a glass of Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale only made it that much better.
We could list all the fantastic things about the HD Lounge experience but it would make this post a thousand words long – suffice it to say that this is a ticket price that is definitely worth it. If you’re looking to celebrate an anniversary, birthday or just have a nice evening out along with your hockey – the Lounge is one of the best places to go.
You can look at past and future menus online and make your reservations right on the Blue Jackets web site.
We’ll be back…we’re still dreaming of the flambed pineapple.
