Highlights from PAC-12 Media Day

A quick sampling of observations from the PAC-12 Media Day, from the official transcripts.  Video from each coach and player representative can be found here:

Rick Neuheisel: “As a coach on the proverbial hotsteat, I guess you’re happy to be anywhere.” Also: “I think in this business, we are all on some sort of hotsteat at all times.”

on his offense: “If we can play well at the quarterback position — and we can protect the quarterback — and put that together with the same running game we had last year… I think there is reason for great optimism.”

Andrew Luck: “I’m doing this as my last college football season and approaching it like such.”

Erickson on Osweiler running: “When it’s fourth and a foot, I’m going with the 6-foot-8 guy.”

Mike Stoops on Arizona’s outlook: “Hope experience at QB and WR will balance out our lack of experience on offensive line.”

Washington running back Chris Polk on Jake Locker being gone: “I can’t be the guy in the back anymore who’s quiet. I have to step up and accept my leadership role.”

Mike Riley on Oregon: “We try not to compare apples and oranges.”

Jeff Tedford on Cal’s 2011 team: “If we play to our full potential, we can win every game we play.”  –People like Arizona State and Stanford, but Cal will be the surprise team in the conference.  They are loaded with speed and talent.
