Hitchcock on Elliott & Allen: “These guys have no ego”

Ken Hitchcock was asked about the team’s goaltending following their 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Aside from pushing the blame off of Brian Elliott (rightfully so), Hitchcock went on to comment on the tandem of Elliott and Jake Allen and had some big complements for the two netminders.

As seen on STLToday:

“I don’t think I’ve ever coached two guys with less ego than these guys. These guys have no ego. They just come to work and come to play and they’re receptive to information. They want to get better every day. This is about as low maintenance a tandem I’ve coached in my life, which is really nice for coaches. They’re willing to look in the mirror, willing to study, willing to get better. They’re two guys that are a lot of fun to work with, to be honest with you.”

That’s some high praise for Elliott and Allen. It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out the rest of the way and how the work is divided between the two, but for now Hitchcock seems pretty happy with his duo.
