The Hoff is Taking Turns on the Second Line

In somewhat of a confounding decision, head coach Paul MacLean has opted to give black ace Mike Hoffman turns on the second line’s line rushes spelling Bobby Butler. Given Butler’s strength of play in Monday night’s game, a game that many would concede was one of Butler’s best, one has to wonder whether this is some kind of psychological ploy designed to keep Butler from getting complacent.

But holy shit, if this is just some motivating technique to keep Butler on his toes, that doesn’t reflect well on the player.

Still feeling the ill effects of his recent setback, Daniel Alfredsson’s was absent from today’s morning skate and is out indefinitely with a concussion.

With 49 points in 76 games, Mike Hoffman led the Binghamton Senators in scoring and finished second in the team with 21 goals. Should he play, this mark the second time during the 2011/12 campaign that Hoffman will have suited up for the Senators. He made his NHL debut on December 23rd, 2011, a game that the Senators lost in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes. In that game, Hoffman took 12 shifts, finished as a minus-1 and his final time on ice was 9:01; all of it coming at even strength.
