The Brewers signed Noriachika Aoki as insurance in case Ryan Braun was down for 50 games and while we all know the end result of that situation he’s quickly making a case for some major playing time as of late. Add today to the list of reasons as Aoki hit the game winning RBI triple in the Brewers 6-5 victory over the Cleveland Indians in Goodyear, AZ.
Aoki wasn’t the only Brewers outfielder to have a good day though as star Ryan Braun finally notched a few RBI’s into his Spring Training belt, platting two in his only hit of the game.
Milwaukee will next put Yovanni Gallardo on the mound in his next to last start of Spring Training before he likely makes his season debut on opening day. The Brewers take on Kansas City tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 3:05pm Central.
Here are the highlights of today’s game:
– Aoki only made the one plate appearance in the top of the 9th and with his hit he’s now 11 for his last 17 from the plate and now has a .327 batting average after starting 1-12. (Wonder if he’ll be on our three up list tomorrow, huh?)
– Braun’s 2 RBI hit was just his 2nd run scoring hit of Spring Training, but with him not playing every day and fighting off a small injury it’s been hard to get into a grove for him.
– On the not so great side was the performance of Chris Narveson who gave up 4 runs on 6 and 1/3 innings pitched. He struck out two but also walked 4 batters in the no decision.
– Behind him was another great outing from the pair of Kameron Loe and Tim Dillard who got the win and the save respectively with back to back scoreless innings of work.
