Home sweet home

After what feels like 100 years on the road (in reality it was ten days), the Pirates return to PNC Park and the 7:05 timeslot tonight. Unfortunately, Cole Hamels and the Phillies await them. The Phils were just 13-13 in June and are probably looking for someone just like the Pirates to start turning things around and move them back towards the top of the suddenly competitive NL East.

The Pirates, meanwhile, counter with Dan McCutchen and will hope that they get the version that pitched in Oakland on Saturday and not the one that struggled so mightily at the beginning of the season. They’re coming home off of a series win against the Cubs, but one that only saw them score five runs in three games. Something is going to have to improve here, or this little run of nice play will end quickly.

First pitch is 7:05, Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump.

Not sure what this is? Check here and here. Short version: in the comments pick the Pirates you think will be most and least valuable in today’s game. If you haven’t jumped aboard yet, it’s been a lot of fun so far and now’s as good a time as any to join in.

Will try to have this when I get home, but I’m also trying to get on the road at a reasonable time this evening.
