Looking to add talent at the wing, Charlotte trades for Batum.

The Charlotte Hornets traded Gerald Henderson and Noah Vonleh to the Portland Trailblazers in exchange for Nicolas Batum, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

Both Batum and Henderson have one year left on their current deals. Vonleh is entering his second year in the NBA.

The trade benefits Charlotte in the short-term, who are looking to make the playoffs after a disappointing season in 2014-15. Batum is a two-way player with length that could make for an interesting pairing next to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Another plus for Charlotte — not giving up the 9th pick in the draft.

For Portland, Henderson will bring a solid all around game. He is athletic, is good defensively, and has a strong mid-range game. He lacks a 3-point shot, but can hit corner 3’s a decent percentage.

Vonleh represents the future. He has a high ceiling, but barely played last season for Charlotte. He is a strong rebounder, and can shoot from the outside if left open. If he develops, he could be a great player down the line.
