According to Adrian Wojnorowski, Luther Head’s road to Sacramento was paved by Hornet deceit:
Head had agreed to a one-year deal with Hornets GM Jeff Bower, only to have the GM fired within days of the verbal agreement. It appeared that Weber didn’t want Head under contract for the next GM, and cancelled the agreement after the physical. Several sources insisted that there was nothing wrong with the ankle, and Weber’s decision appears to have made it more difficult for Head, 28, to find a job this summer.
I could add more in the form of conjecture and such but I think Tom Ziller of Fanhouse really hit the nail on the head with this article.
I have already gone on the record as saying that from a Kings perspective, I like the Luther Head signing, even going as far as to predict him being a rotational player. You have to feel for a 28 year old journeyman trying to earn a new contract with this type of shenanigans going on behind the scenes. It will be interesting to see if the Hornets face player/agent backlash in the future over this questionable decision.
