Hornets Streak Stretches to 6; Lose to Clippers 113 – 92

So, I sound like a broken record.  Team chemistry isn’t there.  Players don’t know their role with the team.  The injury bug bit us early in the season.  We need some rest and time to practice.  Does that cover it all?  I really can’t remember anymore.  Those are all valid excuses as to why we aren’t winning games.  The problem is that the “teal and purple” honeymoon is fading fast and the new fans are not happy.  The old Bobcats fans of yore are all too familiar with this chain of events.  Long losing streaks, unexplainable losses, and just bad basketball were what being a Bobcats fan was all about.  Well, lipstick on a pig is still a pig, and teal and purple on the NBA team in Charlotte is still the NBA team in Charlotte.

So, if you’re still with me, here are my bullet points for losing this game.  Don’t worry, it’s pretty much the same as the last 5:

  • Out-rebounded 43-33
  • Out-assisted 28-21
  • Allowed 51.1% field goal percentage
  • We shot a horrendous 10% from the 3-point line (2 for 20)
  • The Clippers shot 15-32 from 3-point land (46.9%
  • +/- on Kemba and Al was –28.

Leading scorer for the night was Cody Zeller with 17 points, a steal, a block, an assist, and a rebound.  Jefferson added 16, Kemba with 15, Roberts with 11, Henderson and Neal with 8, Williams with 7, Biyombo with 5, Stephenson with 3, and Pargo with 2.

There was nothing to write home about folks.  No chance to breathe either in this hectic schedule.  We have home games Wednesday and Friday against the Trailblazers and the Warriors respectively.  Saturday, we finish the second half of a home-away double header as we head to Atlanta to face the Hawks.  At that point, we finally get a few days to breathe, as our next game isn’t until December 3rd at home against the Bulls.  We need to make the absolute most out of the 3day break from the 29th to the 3rd.  Lots of film study, time to assign some BASIC offensive roles, and go with what works.  This unit has no flow on offense and our stellar defense that we had last season has all but disappeared.  Read back through my recaps, we keep letting teams shoot upwards of 50% from the floor.  We upgraded positions and none of the pieces are working together.  I hope they can crack the code in that 3-day break.  I love this team, but I don’t expect the next 3 games to be any prettier than the last 6 we have witnessed.  I’m hoping that the December 3rd game sheds a little bright spot on this season, and the coaching staff and players have figured out what may work.  We’ll see I guess.

In the meantime, in the words of Mr. Steve Perry:

“Don’t stop believin’

Hold on to the feelin’”

Also, in my words:
