Double OT Victory for the Hornets
Talk about a thriller of a game! Once again, for me, it felt like we were playing 5-on-8 as the Hornets could not get a call to go their way. “Phantom fouls” being called where the player being called never touched the other player, endless offensive fouls being called, and just overall bad officiating overall didn’t allow for much flow in the game.
Kemba struggled to cover Jeff Teague, as he always seems to do. In the overtime sessions, Kemba must have figured it out as he began covering Teague quite well. Zeller did have 2 big blocks on him, which helped the cause as well.
I could go on and on about all the details of the game, but the best thing to state is that every player in last night’s game came to play. They gave it their all, and at the end, the best team won. Lance had his best game as a Hornet, and hit the game winner. I keep comparing Lance to Stephen Jackson. The main reason is because he has this level of swagger that we have seldom had on this team. That swagger gives the team personality and attitude. Teams need that in order to be successful. I’m thinking that last night was the official arrival of #bornready. He had his moments of poor decision making (which is what draws the Stephen Jackson comparison from me), but with the coaching staff and experience that is around him, his game will go to the next level. Patience with this team is what we need, but last night’s game could have been a turning point for this team. It was a really good stepping stone for the team as they head out for their west coast trip. If we can keep playing with the focus and intensity they played with last night, our Hornets may be coming home with quite an impressive record.
One last tidbit to share with everyone. The stat-stuffers of the night were Kemba, Al, and Cody. They each registered points, rebounds, blocks, assists, and steals.
Keep your eye on Cody. He’s looking more and more lim a starter.
Let’s go Hornets!
