Horry picks Olajuwon, not Duncan as greatest teammate

Robert HorrySLAM Magazine recently interviewed former San Antonio Spurs player Robert Horry and asked him several questions about his NBA career.

When asked which of the players he’s played with, including Hakeem Olajuwon, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, was the best, he mentioned Olajuwon and Kobe Bryant.

The best player as far as straight out talent was Hakeem Olajuwon. He was just very talented for a guy his size. But as far as straight work ethic, the guy that you knew was going to bring it every night was Kobe. He was probably one of the smartest guys you’d ever get to play with.

Horry also said his first ring with the Rockets in 1995 meant the most to him and his 2001 Lakers team was the best he ever played on, and that none of his other championship teams, including the 2005 Spurs team could have beat the 2001 Lakers.

While Horry didn’t have much to say about his time in San Antonio and while we may disagree with his statements, he is easily forgiven due to his contributions in the 2005 and 2007 Spurs championships, which will never be forgotten in San Antonio.
