Hot Tub Hot Seat (Final 2011 Edition)

Hot Tub Hot Seat (Final 2011 Edition)

Hello Followers.  Hope you had a great weekend.

In case, you missed this morning’s post, LB put up a dandy which you can find here.

As for me?  Well, now that the season is over and the BCS pairings have been formally announced, I found it high time to air this season’s final, final, stirring edition of Hot Tub, Hot Seat.  And man, was the Hot Tub HOT this year.

Read on.

Followers, admittedly this wasn’t one of the more popular features to ever grace this blog.  In fact, there were several times where I was scorned for even thinking to include some of the coaches on the front picture. But alas, in the end, all of our chosen contenders fell victim to the Tub this year; while our token outsider, Mr. Mike Riley, now is the lone potential contender for next year’s Tub.   The final tally:

Paul Wulff:  As we all know, our dear CPW circled around the tub all year like a piece of styrofoam in a flushing toilet.  And whle it sure looked like the ASU game took him into the changing room for good, little did we know that his penultimate sojourn was actually a final fitting for his a fatal speedo. But, as we all know now, that’s EXACTLY what happens when your AD goes shopping in Key West in November….

Rick Neuheisel:  Tricky Ricky enters those bubbly waters as the worst coach (in terms of wins and losses) in the history of UCLA football.  Normally, WSU would be sad to see a coach with such a distinguished history hit the Tub, but because Tricky Ricky sported a 9-0 record against the Cougs, well, here’s to hoping that he stays out of the Pac-12 for good.  Unless of course, he’s coaching for us.

Dennis Erickson:  Dennis “I’m a Drunk, But Not a Liar, I mean, I’m a Liar, But Not A Drunk” Erickson ended his career much like he used to end his Saturday nights: hung up and hung over.  Thankfully for the Dennis Hater Nation, Dennis still has one more sterling chance to complete another successful bout of program wrecking.  Here’s to hoping that Boise State complements another Dennis Vegas Bender with a 48-0 “warmer” for DE’s final Bloody Mary.

Mike Stoops:  Ole Yeller, sensing that the Tub was getting a bit too crowded for his raging ego, has since departed the Tub with hope of a D-Coordinator position with either Nebraska or Ohio State.  Here’s to hoping that he lands with the Huskers, as working with Ole Yeller Bo portends to rank the Huskers atop the “Leaders” list of most dislikeable, if not, disdainful coaching staffs in the country.

2012 Outlook

With 1/3 of of the Pac-12 coaches starting year one of their tenures, the Tub figures to be dangerously quiet in 2012, especially when you factor in Lame Kiffin’s Coach-of-the-Year type performance this season as well as Jeff Tedfords’ successful close.

However, in spite of the relative tranquility of the Tub next year, 2013 looks much more interesting, as coaches Riley and Embree look to dip their toes in the tub, while Rich Rod looks to make a solid case for his three year outster in 2014.  One thing is for sure, not only has the Tub been especially cruel, but it also has created the conditions for two potential SPLASH KILLER hires in the coming days and weeks.  And to think: We’re not a part of that group.

How cool is that?

All for now.  Go Cougs.
