Oakland's Oracle Arena. The Boston Celtics' house of horrors. Since 2003, December 29th, 2003 to be exact, the C's have been unable to pull out a win at Oracle.
Could it be GSW's usually frenetic, fast-paced offense that wears the C's down? Or is it the sellout crowds that have made Oracle one of the NBA's rowdiest arenas? Probably a bit of both. But either way, the last time Boston won in Oakland, Nick Van Exel was the Warrior's starting PG, Avery Johnson was his backup, and Cliff Robinson the starting PF.
Since 1996, when the arena officially changed it's name from the "Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum", the Celtics are 3-11. And of those, 11 losses, their have been some tough ones. Like Baron's dagger in February of 2008:
And a Decemeber 2004 game where Mike Gorman had to go to the hospital at halftime, and old-nemesis Derek Fisher helped put the nail in the coffin:
The 2010-11 Warriors are 26-29, and as usual, full of young, athletic talent. Let's hope the Celtics can find a way to win at Oracle this year. They tip-off in Oakland on Tuesday night at 10:30pm EST.
