Housekeeping Issues

It was a long weekend that seemed even longer when the Tigers got humped Sunday afternoon to lose their second of three in Cleveland.  Anyway, I want to start the week off with some housekeeping issues that are very important to this site and the way it functions.

  • First of all, as you may have noticed, Detroit4lyfe has added a new writer.  His name is Jack Pinellas.  Jack is a native Detroiter that currently resides in Florida where he molds young minds.  During recess and the administering of history tests, he will be checking in from time-to-time to post about his Detroit sports teams.
  • Another thing you may have noticed is the new style for the daily link dumps.  Due to the fact this is a predominantly Detroit sports blog, I will link to all the interesting and important Detroit stories first (separated by team) and then after the jump (requiring you to click “Read More”) will be all the VERY interesting stories around the sports world.  I highly recommend you check out all these links every day as they are typically, not only the biggest Detroit sports stories, but the most exciting general sports stories that happened that day or the day before.  I will attempt to have these dumps up by 7 PM EST on most days so that people can read them, at the very latest, right before they have their nightly glass of milk and go to bed.
  • At  the bottom of every individual post there is now a Bookmark feature that will allow you to share our stories with your favorite social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Digg, BallHype, Reddit, etc).  Please take advantage of these buttons as they will help spread the word of our blog and individual posts. If you just finished reading a story you liked, please submit it to your favorite site.  At the very least, share it on your facebook or twitter accounts.  (Speaking of which, if you aren’t following us on twitter or a fan on facebook, do so like meow).
  • D4L has once again updated its comment system due to the recent spamming problem. The spamming doesn’t really affect the readers as it is not you receiving the millions of emails linking to Timberland boot stores or giving us fake deals on awul watches.  Either way, this new comment system should eliminate spam altogether, while still making it easy for you to comment on every story.  If for some reason you ever see a link from phony looking sales shops, never click on it. Don’t encourage the spammers, kind of the same way you don’t want to feed the birds at the park.  Otherwise, they’ll swarm.  You knew that already, though, didn’t you?
  • We’re still waiting for some brave souls to start getting discussions going in the Forums.  Bloguin has blessed this site with a Forum for fans to come to daily and post their own thoughts, in detail, regarding Detroit sports or general sports.  Whatever tickles your pickles.  Step up to the plate.  Don’t be a coward.  Start posting in our Forums.
  • Last, but certainly not least, the amazing head honchos of Bloguin developed a rather unique blogroll for the network.  If you’ll peek at the left side of the screen you’ll see a little button advertising 50+ Bloguin Blogs.  By simply clicking on that button, the blogroll will expand and give you a list, separated by category, of all the GREAT blogs on Bloguin.  Check it out, it’ll blow your freaking mind.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Please leave comments and/or questions in the comment section.  Spanks. Regular posting to continue tomorrow.
