On NBC, a truly scary moment happened just before half time as Gary Kubiak, the head coach of the Houston Texans collapsed on the sidelines. It is currently unknown what’s wrong with Kubiak, however in the interim, Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips will assume coaching duties as he has the most coaching experience on the team as he used to be a head coach as part of the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys.
He seemed to be in a great deal of pain after grabbing his leg. The good news is that Kubiak never lost consciousness and is fully responsive and it doesn’t seem like a heart attack and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution and will monitored overnight and likely receive a whole battery of tests tomorrow to see if they can find out what is wrong sooner than later.
Even though his Texans are in the midst of a disappointing season to say the least, Kubiak is one of the better head coaches around the league and as a former player he provides invaluable and unique insight that others would not know as career coaches.
One can only hope and pray this isn’t anything serious for Kubiak especially after Denver Broncos head coach John Fox will miss up to the next eight weeks after it was announced that he will be having heart valve surgery, so it seems like not only the players are having health scares on the field of play.
