Forget Penalties and everything else, this is how the Bucs lost the game.
Its the 4th Qtr where good teams rise above and win games. The Saints did it, the Bucs did not.
There was 9 minutes left in the game, Bucs defense stopped a two point
conversion, Bucs led 31-26. Saints would HAVE to go for a TD, Bucs had the ball.
1st 10 Martin runs for 3 yards but a flag for holding on Demar Dotson sets them back.
1st 20 Ball snapped just as Vincent Jackson is in motion, hits him ends up on the 2 yard line!
After this, the Bucs commit penalties, two of them, that move the ball to the half yard line. Glennon drops back to throw, and the safety happens.
The Saints drive for a winning TD but Lavonte David takes the game over like a winner does, and forces a FG try.
Bucs get the ball back, tied, only needing a FG with just under 3 minutes left.
When the Bucs become a championship team they will learn to put the game away here like the Saints did when they had a chance.
1st 10 Rainey gets 7.5 yards
2nd 2 after 2:00 warning Complete to Murphy for 1st down
1st 10 from TB 34- 8 yard catch by Murphy, holding on Logan Mankins.
1st and 20 Tb 24- incomplete down sideline
2nd 20 incomplete right sideline
3rd 20 ???Was it complete to Murphy? Probably not but close. This needs to be converted.
Defense does a good job picking off Drew Brees just before the half but doesn’t call time out with 9 seconds left ball at the 24 yard line.
Then there is the hands to the face call by Banks who inadvertently moved his hands across the face( I hope Inadvertantly). Bucs could not stop the Saints and the defense was tired at this point.
This team is learning, but there is still more learning to go. The Ravens come to town and they are NOT a great road team. A win before the BYE would be great!
