The Matchup
Last time
The Pistons have thumped the Celtics twice this season. January 20th was just another miserable night as Detroit rolled 103-88. And way back in November, Detroit embarrassed the C’s, 103-83. Maybe the 3rd time is a charm.
This time
Get it to: Jeff Green
If Paul Pierce can’t go (game-time decision), who else deserves 20 shots? Green will have a quickness advantage against Kyle Singler at small forward. Whether he plays aggressive, well, that’s another issue.
Gotta stop: Greg Monroe
He’s rung up 35 points and 24 rebounds in the two wins over Boston this season. With KG missing his 7th straight game and Chris Wilcox playing like Patrick O’Bryant, it’s possible Monroe equals those numbers tonight.
The Wild Card: Jason Terry
Life would be a lot easier if Terry could just score consistently. The Pistons are soft on the perimeter. Opponents are shooting 36% (T-19th) from the arc.
How we see it goin’ down
The Celtics have dropped 7 of 9. The Pistons have lost 2 of 15. Boston can clinch a playoff spot (frightening to think they haven’t done so with 8 games remaining in regular season) with a victory and a Philadelphia loss to Charlotte. Detroit is fighting for lottery position. If the C’s were ever going to stop this skid, a home game vs Detroit is the time.
I’m a-scared o think what Monroe and Andre Drummond (10 ppg vs Bos this season) will do to our Charmin soft front-line.
But… we can’t lose three straight to the Pistons, can we?
Celtics: 88
Pistons: 80
