The Matchup
Last time
The Celtics lead the season series, 2-0. Boston needed OT to beat the Wizards, 100-94, on November 7. The green edged Washington, 89-86, on November 3. Washington has dropped 5 straight in Boston.
This time
Get it to: Paul Pierce
Anyone else like his chances against Martell Webster?
Gotta stop: John Wall
Wall is averaging All-Star caliber numbers since March 1: 23 points, 7.8 assists, 5 rebounds and 1.6 steals. Wall dropped 37 points on the Pacers last night. It will be fun to watch Avery Bradley compete with the lighting fast Wall, provided the collarbone bruise doesn’t force him to the bench.
The Wild Card: How will KG look?
Garnett has missed the last 8 games, so I’m not sure how many minutes he’ll be able to give tonight. But the Celtics will need his presence. Washington has rolled out Nene and Emeka Okefor in its starting line-up recently. The Wizards rank 7th in the league in rebounding.
How we see it goin’ down
The Wizards are not cream puffs. They rank better defensively than Boston and own a better record (18-12 to 16-14) over the past 30 games.
But…
If KG and Pierce both play, I like the Celtics to roll.
Celtics: 106
Wizards: 91
