Free Agent Center Dwight Howard will be headed to Houston as first reported by Sam Amick. Speculation had been going on since Howard was traded to the Lakers from Orlando last season. The teams in the running were the Lakers, Rockets, Warriors, Mavericks, and Hawks. The rumored final three were Los Angeles, Golden State, and Houston. Nothing is final in this deal, and a Sign and Trade between the Lakers and Rockets could still happen.
In news aside from Howard, Andre Iguodala has agreed to a 4 year, $48 million dollar deal with Golden State, who also traded the big contracts of Andris Biedrins and Richard Jefferson along with Brandon Rush and a 2014 and 2017 first round pick to Utah for Kevin Murphy and second round selections. Credit Adrian Wojnarowski for breaking that trade and signing. Even after the Iguodala signing, the Warriors hadn’t given up hope on signing Howard, as they were rumoredly attempting to trade Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barnes plus a first round pick to Los Angeles for Howard, should he pick the Bay area to call home.
Yesterday, the New Orleans Pelicans, who appear on their way swiftly out of the Lottery, agreed to a trade for Tyreke Evans, sending Greivis Vasquez to Sacramento and the contract of Robin Lopez to Portland.
Also, Matt Barnes will remain a Clipper, signing a 3 year, $11 million deal. Josh McRoberts has inked a deal to return to Charlotte for 2 years, $6 million. Earl Clarke signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers for 2 years, $9 million.
