Henry Poggi from Baltimore (MD) Gilman School may have yet to begin his junior year of high school, but he has received more than 10 offers.  The Nittany Lions Den recently caught up with him to hear how his recruitment has been going, and whether or not Penn State has been in contact.

“I’m just trying to visit as many schools as possible to see what is the best fit for me,” said Poggi.  “Penn State has been a little [bit in contact].  Brian Gaia who goes to Gilman committed there, I have received the usual from them like camp registration forms and questionnaires.  It is not officially the time period when [the coaches] can send me letters and things like that.  But Coach Johnson has been to our school just to size me and a couple of my teammates up.  Other than Penn State I would say Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Stanford, Michigan, Iowa, and Florida [have kept the most contact.]”

What will separate the contenders from the pretenders for Poggi?  “Academics are number one, religious based is number two, relationships with players and campus atmosphere is number three, then football comes after those,” he said.  “I’m leaning towards business [as a major] but I’m not sure yet.”

Henry Poggi is being recruited as a TE, DE and DT by different schools.  He self-reports a bench press of 335, squats 450 and runs a 4.73 forty.  He is listed at 6’4″ and 258 pounds, and can run a 4.39 shuttle.
