I didn’t know the Nets were THAT bad

The Celtics annihilated the New Jersey Nets 111 – 87 in a game that wasn't even that close.

The real fun came in the first half when the Celtics built up a 36 point lead (69-33) right before the half. I realize the Nets came into the game with a 3-34 record, but that performance in the first half was one of the worst in the history of basketball.

The Celtics shot 67% in the first quarter, en route to 38 points. They had 11 assists on 12 baskets. Brian Scalabrine had 8 points of his 11 points in the 1st.

The hot shooting continued into the 2nd quarter. At one point the Cs were shooting 70+%. The highlight of the game* came on a Paul Pierce lob to Tony Allen who finished with a one handed jam (video above).

The Celtics came out flat and sloppy in the 3rd quarter where they were outscored 29-19. While I was pissed they didn't extend the lead to 50, the lead was large enough where Doc sat the starters for the entire 4th quarter.

Paul Pierce lead the scoring with 24 points. Rajon Rondo had 11 points, 14 assists. Glen Davis chipped in 13 points off the bench. He also injured a thumb (I couldn't tell which one) on a hard foul by Kris Humphries in the 4th quarter.

"It's disrespectful to the game of basketball. The Nets should be ashamed,"said Donny Marshall during the halftime report.

*I bailed on the final 2 minutes of the game to start this blog and missed a Bill Walker dunk which apparently rivals TA's play.

Some cool photos of TA, Rondo and Pierce dunking…. after the jump.
