That's what Rajon Rondo said when he was asked about his strengths.
Of course, I did the classic media thing and pulled one 5 second quote out of a 6:25 interview and ran with it.
But I like it. I think Rondo knows what he's good at. He knows he's fast and he knows he can read defenses better than most. It's just one of the answers he gave in this long interview with Celtics.com.
Another interesting moment: at 4:12, he's asked who he'd call when he needs to talk to someone for advice. He says his high school coach… his agent… and then he says Ray Allen. But you've got to look at his face when he says it. The pause… the face… the emphasis.
Earlier in the interview he's asked about what he does on an out-of-bounds play and he immediately says "find Ray."
I think it all adds up to a very special bond between Ray and Rondo. I think Ray's his go-to guy for a lot of things. We already know that Ray has influenced his pre-game routine. I think Rondo is flat-out patterning a lot of what he does after Ray Allen. It makes me think that keeping Ray around after his contract is up would be especially beneficial to this team. He seems to be Rajon's main support system on this team.
It's something I'd explore… if the Celtics let us talk to the team.
