If I were a new stadium in Sacramento, this is what I might look like.

If I were a new stadium in Sacramento, this is what I might look like.

In the immortal words of Frank the Tank, “It’s glorious!”  This is the artist rendering for the proposed sports and entertainment center that the Taylor/ICON group will unveil at tomorrow’s special city council meeting.

Susan Hurt covered a lot of the smaller details that leaked out in yesterday’s Sacramento Press.  According to Hurt, the new building will cover approximately 700,000 square feet, a huge increase over the 440,000 square foot Power Balance Pavilion.

If I were a new stadium in Sacramento, this is what I might look like. The Maloof’s have publicly stated that they aren’t looking for another Staples Center, but a building that fits the Sacramento market demographic, similar to Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.  Completed in 1999, Conseco Fieldhouse seats 18,314 with 66 luxury suites, 2,500 club seats and takes up approximately 750,000 square feet.

Now that we can see the visual rendering, it is time to start breaking down the financials.  That road will begin tomorrow with the Taylor/ICON public presentation in front of the Sacramento City Council where they will hopefully have a rough outline of the public/private financing portion of the deal.
