For the first time in 6 years, a member of the Philadelphia 76ers has been selected to represent the team in the NBA All-Star game. Sixers guard, Andre Iguodala, has been officially named a reserve for the 2012 NBA All-Star game in Orlando. Iguodala will be the first Sixer since the 11 time all-star and 2-time all star MVP, Allen Iverson, to represent Philadelphia in the annual meeting of the NBA’s most elite players.

Andre Iguodala, in his 8th season in the NBA, is currently averaging 13 points a game and has a career average of 15.5 points per game. Aside from statistics, Iguodala has proven to be one of the most exciting  athletes to watch in the NBA with his fierce drives and monstrous dunks. This will not be Iguodala’s first time taking part in the NBA All-Star weekend festivities as he was a member of both the Rookie team in 2005 and the Sophomore team in 2006 in the NBA’s Rookie Challenge, winning the MVP of the game in 2006. You may also remember Iguodala’s stunning performance in the 2006 Slam Dunk Competition during which he slammed in an off the back of the backboard lob from then teammate, Allen Iverson. Iguodala would go onto finish the competition in second place to the 5 foot 9, Nate Robinson.

The 2012 NBA All-Star Game can be seen Sunday February 26 beginning at 6pm on TNT.
