Indefinitely.
In the world of sports, “indefinitely” can be an excruciatingly painful NON–description for a timetable to return from injury.
For Andre Iguodala, the word “indefinitely” at present moment means only that he will be out of action for at least the next 2 Golden State Warrior road games.
This was reported via twitter by Rusty Simmons, shortly before the Warriors 102-101 road victory over the New Orleans Pelicans that snapped a 3 game losing streak.
“Warriors head coach Mark Jackson ruled out Andre Iguodala (left hamstring) for at least the team’s three-game road trip in NOP, DAL & OKC”
This means for sure the away games against the Dallas Mavericks tonight and at the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday just got a little bit harder as the Warriors continue their current 4 game road trip.
As for an Iguodala return date after that? That’s anyone’s guess, right now according to Simmons.
“The soonest he can return would be Sunday against the Kings, which does seem like a stretch considering he could barely walk after suffering the injury on Friday.”
The Warriors forward strained his hamstring during the third quarter in an eventual 102-95 loss to the Lakers in Los Angeles last Friday.
After a MRI over the weekend revealed the good news that surgery wouldn’t be required, the organization and Iguodala were still left to play the guessing game.
According to Carl Steward, coach Jackson couldn’t even venture to estimate how long his star forward might be out.
“I think it’s tough to get into that because different people react and respond differently to different injuries,”
Since Iguodala has rarely been injured and certainly never to this extent, caution and rest is the only thing that can anyone can do at this point as he pointed out to Marcus Thompson shortly after the game.
“We’ll take it serious and I’m sure I’ll be back really soon. My body has been pretty good to me so far. I’ll take care of it, so sooner than everyone thinks.”
Scanning even the most reputable medical sites for a non-torn hamstring muscle strain timetable shows a return to action can vary anywhere between 1 week to 3 months.
Again…indefinitely is the only word that can be applied at the current moment.
