I’m not going to cry for Carmel…ever

My friend Christa calls this travesty to our attention

That was a reference to a 5-yard scoring pass from Warren Central quarterback Derek Hart to Maurice Magee on fourth down with one second left in regulation.

Magee landed with both feet out of bounds, but an official looking directly at the play ruled he was forced out by Carmel’s Matt Seward, even though the contact looked to be light and Magee might have landed out of bounds anyway. Warren followed that by scoring on the two-point conversion to make the score 28-28 and send the game into overtime.

Boos showered down from the Carmel portion of the crowd when Magee’s catch was shown on the stadium video board. The Carmel student section shouted in unison “You didn’t earn it” when the Warren Central players shook hands with the Greyhounds after the game.

“I guess in sports, these things happen, but when an administrator from their side comes over and says, ‘That’s a terrible call,’ what do you think?” said Moriarity, declining to identify the Warren Central administrator.

While I empathize for the kids who were robbed, they are from Carmel after all.  It’s hard to feel too bad for them.
