In introduction to the “disabled list”

There is a little known clause in Major League Baseball, a loophole, even, that states that players may be removed from the active roster via something called the “disabled list”. Basically,  you can still keep injured players on your team, but still have someone replace them on the roster!

This, to me, sounds like a pretty crazy loophole. You aren’t playing a guy, but you aren’t saddled with him on the roster with an injury. You don’t have to release him, and you actually get to REPLACE him on the roster.

I have to believe that only the best GMs have read the rule book thoroughly enough to see this rule, so it’s just a matter of time before we see Terry Ryan taking advantage of this crazy loophole.
