The Pirates and Giants conclude their three-game set at the weird-for-the-East-Coast time of 3:45 this afternoon, with the Pirates trying to scrape out their first series victory since July 18-20 against the Giants. Jonathan Sanchez is taking the mound for the Giants, and he’s almost a sure thing to continue the trend of Giant pitchers posting huge strikeout totals in this series. Jeff Karstens, who’s suddenly giving up much more than just solo homers, will continue his valiant battle with the Monster of Regression for the Pirates.
I dunno, it’s hard to have a good feeling about a Pirate game at this point in the season. I certainly don’t have one this afternoon. First pitch is at 3:45 and I’ll be around for most of it until I leave work to go to the Bulls game tonight.
