The Tampa Bay Buccaneers can be described in so many words; they can be exciting, and equally frustrating. They have an ability to score points at will at times, especially in the 4th quarter, yet in the 1st period they look like they have no chance to put one single point up if their season depended of it.
They run the ball at will, yet at times cannot get one foot if that was only sole purpose. These are the 2011 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Kings of Inconsistency- one thing one day, another thing the next, and the only constant thing with the Bucs, is their lack of anything that is constant!
When the Bucs came out in their first preseason game, they looked like a team that had it all togetherover a KC team that had it all together while Chiefs were falling apart. The Bucs had been one of the few teams to practice as a unit in the offseason, and it showed. But the very next week against the Patriot the whole team did an about face and fell apart; they looked just like the KC team the week before, disorganized, with a lack of direction. The pattern started there, and when the Bucs took on the Detroit Lions, everyone expected a Bucs team that was fired up from the loss to the Lions the year before that knocked them out of the playoffs, a team that was used to the heat from practicing in the heart of it, while the northern guys from Detroit were supposed to wilt away, the exact opposite happened and the Bucs had to recover from being out of it all the way until the end of the 4th quarter.
How many times have the Bucs started a game with 2 minutes to go in the first half? @ Minnesota? Vs Chicago in London? @ San Francisco, at New Orleans? Then they follow it up with ball control LeGarrette Blount running downhill vs Indianapolis, Atlanta and the Home Saints game. But they cant seem to find a way to string them together in the same pattern, and therein lies the problem.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are predictably unpredictable. They beat teams they are not supposed to and lose to and lose when they have no business. Part of it is youth, but a growing part of it is learning to put the effort required on a consistent basis. When they learn that, the inconsistent Bucs will be consistently more consistent!
Or something to that end.
