The Sox and the Indians didn’t take the field until almost 9:30pm last night because of the cold, dreary rain. Both teams really needed to get the game in due to their schedule and that this was the last time the Sox would be in Cleveland. The game started late and went into extra innings only to see the Indians win it as a walk off at about 2am.
Brandon Workman was on the mound for the Sox since he is currently appealing his suspension. Workman gave up a single run in the first, but after that he was basically locked in for the rest of his outing. Cabrera hit what should have been an out, but it fell in between Bradley and Drew. It was followed by Brantley hitting an RBI single. Sox 0-1. The Sox were able to grab the lead in the 6th when Papi hit a 2 run homerun. Sox 2-1. In the bottom of the inning the Indians not only took the lead, but AJ Pierzynski also got himself ejected from the game from arguing balls and strikes with the umpire. Workman was done for the evening and Capuano came in to finish off the inning. Capuano gave up an RBI single to Kipnis to tie the game. Sox 2-2. Capuano also gave up a 2 run RBI to Murphy to have the Indians up 4-2.
The Sox tied the game back up in the 7th when Brock Holt hit a 2 run RBI single to score Drew and Nava. Sox 4-4. The game stayed tied 4-4 well into extra innings. The Sox sent out pitchers Burke Badenhop, Craig Breslow, Junichi Tazawa, Koji Uehara and then Edward Mujica. Mujica took the mound in the 12th inning which would spell disaster for the Sox. Mujica allowed two singles and then a 3 run walk off HR to Cabrera to have the Indians celebrating in the wee hours of the morning.
