Injuries Cost Season for Jackson, Career for Byers

Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema updated the media after practice yesterday and confirmed what was thought about freshman running back Vonte Jackson, that he suffered a season ending ACL tear. However, he also informed us that sophomore linebacker Cody Byers' career has come to a close before it ever got started because of a history of concussions.

Byers, who never saw in-game action during his career, suffered a "major concussion" his freshman season and sustained a second one after putting th pads back on recently. Bielema did say that he will join the team as a student coach in some capacity.

Jackson, who entered Wisconsin early to help rehab a torn ACL in his left knee, now faces a torn ACL in his right knee and will for sure redshirt this season (something that was likely to have happened anyway).

"He has recovered and everything felt great there," said Bielema in his press conference last night. "He's obviously been through one already, so the one benefit he'll have is experience."

We wish both a speedy recovery and good luck down the paths they must now take. Once a Badger, always a Badger!
