The Sacramento Kings announced that Darren Collison will sit out tonight against the Phoenix Suns for his second consecutive contest. Rudy Gay will also join him on the bench with a sore left foot.

Collison injured his right hip on a drive to the hoop against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday. After scoring a layup late in the second quarter, he was substituted out and escorted to the locker room. Collison didn’t return and was diagnosed with a flexor strain.

Tonight’s match will mark the fifth missed game by Collison this season. The 27-year-old is averaging a career-high 16.1 points, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game in his first season in Sacramento. Ramon Sessions will replace him in the starting lineup.

Gay’s injury comes off the heels of a four-point, 1-for-8 shooting performance on Thursday. The small forward was subbed off the floor with 5:55 remaining in the blowout loss. Gay has missed three games this season and is producing 19.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists a night.

As for Kings rookie Eric Moreland, he remains out for the season with a left shoulder labral tear. The 23-year-old made three NBA appearances this season, totaling one field goal and one rebound in two minutes.
