The Kings’ injury report for today’s matchup against the Miami Heat.
- Rudy Gay has officially been ruled out of tonight’s contest with a left knee capsule sprain. The 28-year-old wing is averaging 20.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game for Sacramento this season. The nine-year NBA vet has missed just two games due to injury and is listed as day-to-day with the knee injury. Derrick Williams is expected to start in Gay’s place.
- Before tonight’s game, Carl Landry, Ben McLemore and rookie Nik Stauskas were the only three Kings to play in all 38 games this season. Landry’s streak will end tonight when the 31-year-old forward sits with a right wrist sprain. Landry missed a total of 64 games last season with two separate leg injuries. He has been the one consistent bright spot off the Kings bench this season and like Gay, he is day-to-day with the injury.
- Omri Casspi has missed the Kings’ last five games and 12 of 17 overall with a left knee bone contusion, but he has been upgraded to probable for tonight and is expected to play against the Heat. Casspi is averaging 7.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 18.2 minutes a contest this season. With Williams sliding into the starting lineup in place of Rudy Gay, the Kings welcome Casspi back with open arms.
- Ramon Sessions continues to miss games due to a low back strain. The point guard has been battling the issue for nearly three weeks and has missed 10 straight and 11 of 12 games for Sacramento. Sessions is averaging a career-low 6.1 points and 2.5 assists in 17.1 minutes per game (25 appearances, three starts). Ray McCallum has assumed backup point duties in his place.
