J.D. Drew: The team learned he has herniated disc in his back. Drew said it was possible that he could play through the pain and not miss any more games but a trip to the DL is very likely.
Sean Casey: Lowrie played third last night and Youk moved over back to first because Casey had a stiff neck and said he could barely move his head. Expect Casey to be back in the lineup tonight.
Julio Lugo: An MRI will tell if he did new damage to his quad or if he just aggravated it. If there is new damage he will be out for the season. Either way he is still at least 3 weeks away from returning.
Josh Beckett: Yesterday’s test of the arm went well and Beckett felt comfortable with no complaints. He should be able to start against the Yankees.
Tim Wakefield: Francona would not confirm that Wake will be ready early next week but he has been throwing side sessions without problem.
Bartolo Colon: Since he only threw 40 pitches in his last outing he will make two more starts with the PawSox; Tuesday and Aug. 31. He will not be brought up until September if all goes well.
