It’s rare to get an inside look at a professional sports locker room outside of pre-game and post-game interviews. But up in Canada, there is a television show called “Open Gym” that airs on NBA TV that just happened to be with the Raptors in Los Angeles when the news broke of the seven-man trade with the Kings that involved Rudy Gay, Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy heading to Sacramento.
The footage below draws back the curtain and gives you an inside look into the difficult business that is the NBA. Acy is completely caught off-guard by the news, and Gray has nothing but love for everyone in the locker room. “You’ve just got to laugh, so you don’t cry,” Gray says during the program.
Around the 22-minute mark, the show switches its focus to the incoming former Kings players, including interviews with Patrick Patterson, Chuck Hayes, Greivis Vasquez and John Salmons as they arrive in Toronto. All four players seem genuinely excited about the opportunity to fight for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The clip is definitely worth a watch.
