Thirteen made threes in a row; That’s what it took for Stephen Curry to come away as the 2015 Three-Point Contest Champion.
Following a score of 17 from Kyrie Irving to open the Championship Round, Curry caught fire to capture the lead and seal his first Three-Point Shoot Out victory.
Curry set a new competition record with 27 in the final round, passing Jason Kapono’s and Craig Hodges’ 25, with help from the new “money rack” and 34-point possible scoring total.
Thompson also joined Curry in the Final round by posting a first-round high of 24, but couldn’t find the hot hand needed to compete with his #SplashBrother teammate, finishing with just 14 in the championship.
The Splash Brothers and Irving eliminated 5 from a lauded field that included the Wesley Mathews, the NBA leader in made threes, and Kyle Korver, the NBA leader in three-point percentage.
Also among those who did not move on from the first round were JJ Redick, James Harden and former Warrior Marco Belinelli at All-Star Saturday Night
The Splash Brothers put on a strong showing, posting the two highest scores in the entire competition, though Klay’s final round fell off late after he was eliminated from defeating Steph.
