Introducing the MWAH resource pages

As part of my effort to broaden the content offerings of MWAH this year, I’m happy to announce the rollout of the MWAH resource pages. I’ve been working with these items for a bit and am finally ready to release them into the wild. My hope is that you find them to be useful complements to the content MWAH already provides and to your general informational needs when it comes to following the Angels.

Bullpen Usage Report
This first offering is a fun little tool that you’ve probably seen different permutations of around various corners of the internet. What the Bullpen Usage Report will do is provide a daily tracker of how and when Mike Scioscia uses his relievers. We all know that Scioscia’s bullpen management has been the subject of much scorn around these parts, so I figured it would be nice to see it actually visualized.

With this tool you’ll be able to see how frequently a pitcher is used, how many pitches they are being asked to throw, how often they are getting more than three outs or working across multiple innings, what leverage situations they are being used in and whether or not they are delivering shutdowns and meltdowns. That’s a ton of information packed in one cool little report and a good way to identify bullpen usage trends. My goal is to update the report after each game, but cut me some slack if I am not quite on top of it during weekends.

Organizational Depth Chart
This is exactly what it sounds like. It is a depth chart for every level of the Angels organization. It is pretty easy to find depth charts for MLB teams, but much harder to find it for minor league clubs. While keeping the minor league depth charts up to date is a bit of a chore, I’ll do my best to keep them as current as possible (especially roster moves, lineups are too fluid to update more than once a week). For now, the depth charts are fairly basic, but I intend to embed more content over time. I’m bit constrained by the space I have to work with on the page, but I think there is potential to make this a pretty cool resource.

MWAH Top Prospects
You’ve seen this before. This is our normal repository for the most recent year’s MWAH Top Prospect Countdown. At least that is what it is for now. Scotty and I put a lot of work into this item each offseason, so I wanted to make sure it gets pushed as much as possible. Eventually, I’d like to turn it into more of a frequently updated prospect tracker, but I’m going to need more time to figure out how I’ll set that up.

All of these resource pages can be found in the menu bar of the site, but bookmarking them is always a good idea.

If you have any ideas for new resource pages or how to make the pages even better. Feel free to drop me a line in the comments, email or Twitter.
