A few seasons ago, Gary Sheffield hit Spring Training, but not as a player…as an agent.
Going into this season, the brains behind the Sheffield Management and Entertainment Group has again added another feather to his should-be Hall of Fame (yeah, I said it!) cap. The retired slugger has entered into the cigar business.
“I’ve been smoking (cigars) for 17 years,” Sheffield said. “And while I wasn’t doing it on an everyday basis, when I retired, I wanted to have my own (cigar). I went to Naples (Fla.) and met with Rocky Patel and we brainstormed on how we would (create the cigar).”
Sheffield’s signature HR500 cigar features “a dark Ecuadorian Habano seed wrapper and a blend of binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and Honduras”. Now, I have no clue if that is good or not, but, hey…Gary Sheffield is selling cigars now?
Take THAT, Hall of Fame voters!
