Kelly & Irish Bring The Wood And Beat Purdue 38-10

Notre Dame ran wild all over Purdue and beat the Boilers 38-10. The Irish racked up 551 yards of offense with 287 of those yards coming from the rushing attack.

Jonas Gray and Cierre Wood have turned themselves into one of the best running back tandems in all of college football. Against Purdue, Jonas Gray ran the ball 15 times for 94 yards and a TD while Cierre Wood took 20 carries and gained 191 yards and also scored a touchdown.

For years, the Notre Dame faithful (along with whoever is coaching the Irish) have talked about the importance of the rushing game. While there were arguments as to the best way to accomplish that, it has been clear that for Notre Dame to start winning on a consistent basis; they had to control the line of scrimmage and get good yardage on the ground. The 287 yards was the most since Notre Dame ran for over 300 against Stanford in 2003.

I’ll have much more on the Purdue Hangover post later. Until then, smile as big as Gray and Wood are right now- I think the party has just begun.

Go Irish!
