With all the Rangers forwards finally healthy and Mats Zuccarello playing like his NHL life is on the line (it is), the Rangers have 14 forwards for just 12 spots. John Scott is obviously one scratch, but John Tortorella had an interesting decision last night and he decided that Ruslan Fedotenko was going to be the other healthy scratch. Here’s his reason why (via Newsday)…
“He’s just been a little deliberate, but he’s going to get another opportunity.”
Tortorella added that Fedotenko wouldn’t be benched forever.
…Fedotenko is a proven playoff performer so you can be assured when the puck drops in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals he’ll be in the line-up.
…for now, I do feel that Torts made the correct decision scratching Fedotenko. Although Mitchell (just 6:16 of ice time last night) could easily take his spot in the press box.
