Notre Dame announced today that it will add the interlocking “ND” and some shamrocks to the newly installed fiedturf inside Notre Dame Stadium.
It's official! The new field at the stadium will keep the end zone stripes. Details… http://t.co/p7EtPumu5W

While most of those that oppose the installation of the new fiedturf are most likely bothered by this recent update (I assume), there can be no cries about “TRADITION’ when, in fact, the field paint has changed quite a few times over the century- EVEN WHEN HOLTZ AND ARA WALKED THE SIDELINES.
Oh my.
This is something that has loudly been asked for by a large portion of the fanbase. There’s a thousand opinions about just “what” that should be exactly, but from what I can remember in this brain, a lot of people were hoping to keep the lines in the end zone but with a “tasteful” interlocking “ND” at midfield. (Tasteful, referring to the size).
As far as the shamrocks go, there will be those that don’t like them, and I’m not sure where I fit in that mix just yet. That picture was HORRIBLE. There had to be an artist on campus somewhere that could have done a nice rendering that would loo more like NCAA Football 2013 rather than Super Tecmo Bowl.
Oh well.
Just a reminder that picture (so to speak) is going right on top of what’s been shaking under the Dome. HOLLA!
The transition to artificial turf at Notre Dame Stadium has begun. The first layer of rubber is being applied today. pic.twitter.com/7kHfvEVFgD
