Is this suspension a step in the right direction for the Kings?

Another tirade by DeMarcus Cousins is nothing new in Kings land. Although, this time, Vlade Divac and the Sacramento Kings tried something new.

They suspended their All-Star big man after berating head coach George Karl last night against the Cavaliers.

This came directly from the Kings:

SACRAMENTO, CA —- The Sacramento Kings have suspended center DeMarcus Cousins for one game for conduct detrimental to the team, according to Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Vlade Divac.

Cousins will serve the suspension in Sacramento’s next contest against the Orlando Magic on Friday.

Then at practice today, Divac spoke to the media and had some interesting things to say.

“Well, obviously we tried to do our best thing to send a message that we cannot tolerate some stuff,” Divac said. “He went a little far and we have to do things to be on the same page.”

This isn’t the first time Cousins went a “little far” but I believe this suspension was earned and I applaud Divac. Will it change Cousins’ mindset when he returns from the suspension? Probably not but something needed to happen and it did.

This month is already a negative one and the storylines are everywhere and garnishing national attention. Looks like nothing much has changed in Kings land. The frustration continues and of course the marathon does too.
