Isaiah Thomas discusses Kings to Seattle rumors

Isaiah Thomas spoke for the first time yesterday about the possible relocation of the Sacramento Kings to Seattle following the team’s 117-112 defeat to the Dallas Mavericks.  The Kings starting point guard was not made available to media after practice Wednesday when news broke of a potential deal to move his team to the Pacific Northwest.  As usual, Thomas spoke thoughtfully as he addressed questions about the possibility of moving back home.

  • Thomas squashed the rumor about him telling a close friend that the Seattle sale was a done deal. “If I was told that, you guys would know.  So, it was a lie.  It got fixed this morning.”  Thomas added that somebody claiming to be his friend for the last 13 years started the rumor.
  • Is the second-year point guard torn at all about the prospects of playing in Seattle if it meant leaving Sacramento?  “I mean it would (be fun to play back home).  But I’m here in Sacramento.  I got drafted by the Sacramento Kings and I love it here.  So, I can’t speak on going back to Seattle right now.”
  • Has Thomas gotten used to dealing with the speculation?  “With me, it’s so up in the air, I don’t know what’s really going on.  Like last year with the arena deal, thinking we’re getting a new arena, then we don’t.  And then, this year coming out of the blue, then hearing about Virginia Beach – things like that.  I mean, I read the stuff, but I don’t know too much more than the next man, so I just try to focus on playing basketball.”
