Isaiah Thomas (groin) flew home last night and will not play tonight vs. Orlando, says Brad Stevens. #NEBHInjuryReport

The Celtics will once again have to go to battle without a key guy… this time missing Isaiah Thomas with a groin strain suffered in the second quarter of the Rockets game.
After the game, Isaiah said he had hoped to play tonight, but Brad Stevens decided to take that decision out of IT’s hands.

This is the smart play. Send him home, let him get round-the-clock treatment and see if he can get himself right for a VERY tough stretch the includes the Spurs and Raptors.
Orlando is beat-able without without Thomas, but they’re also a big team. Thomas historically struggles against that kind of length anyway, and with his style of play, he’d probably be hitting the deck an extraordinary amount… even for him. So not only is sending him home smart in terms of the injury, it’s smart in terms of not making the injury worse.
Marcus Smart will get the start in Isaiah’s place.
