Isaiah Thomas trumps Sacramento in Mexico City

Mexico Cowbell Kingdom

Tonight’s embarrassing performance for Sacramento stung a little bit more than the rest in previous seasons because it was in front of a global audience and it came after playing their best defensive game of the season.

The Sacramento Kings were awful tonight against the Boston Celtics and they were trumped 114-97 in front of 18,660 fans in attendance.

“I’m disappointed. I think we need to be more serious at the beginning of the games. I do not know if tonight it was the altitude or the tempo or Boston playing well but they hit us hard at the start and we never recovered,” George Karl told the Associated Press.

Like I was saying on Twitter, I feel bad for the great Mexican fans looking for a show from this game. The Celtics could’ve beaten the Kings anywhere in the world tonight. The altitude is not a valid excuse because both teams played in it.

The sad thing is that the most exciting moment of the game for entertainment purposes was the ejection of Rajon Rondo. Oh wait, Kelly Olynyk’s pump fake on Willie Cauley-Stein and thunderous finish was worthy of an “OLEY-OLEY.”

But that’s my point. Very few moments were positive for the Kings tonight. They were lucky this game wasn’t televised on TNT because Charles Barkley would’ve eaten them alive with jokes. I can already hear him say, “They were Turrible.”

Isaiah Thomas tormented his former team, scoring 21 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Those are Rondo-like numbers. Olynyk added 21 points for the Celtics while Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder each had 20.

“I think I’m over it,” Thomas told the Associated Press. “But obviously you want to play good against your former team. But you also want to get the win, because winning is the most important thing and today we did it.”

Rudy Gay scored 18 points and DeMarcus Cousins added 16 for the Kings, who lost for the third time in their last four games.

That just won’t cut it, if this team expects to make the playoffs. They have the talent to be a playoff team but that phrase is getting old.

And just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, Cauley-Stein will miss 4-6 weeks with an open dislocation of the right index finger. That is just unfortunate.

Just kind of sums up the type of season the Kings have had thus far.
