Islander Fans are Pissed that Mid-Afternoon Radio/Cable Show Doesn’t Ask Tough Enough Questions

So, turns out I missed a pretty good episode of NHL Live on NHL Network/XM Radio today. It’s usually a nice, calm interesting hockey show. Nothing unbelievable but Don LaGreca and EJ Hradek (the two most  often recurring hosts) are interesting and do a solid job.

Anyway, today the pair interviewed Isles GM Garth Snow. Apparently, when you don’t ask Garth the tough questions, Isles fans get a little fired up. A few wrote into the show via Twitter/email and were not too kind. LaGreca — a longtime good guy in the NY radio business — wouldn’t have any of it. He went off pretty accurately and hilariously on the whole subject. Here’s the video:

Now, I didn’t see the interview, but I’d imagine the viewers had some fair gripes. But really, what was there to ask Garth? The team lost 10 in a row, he had an opportunity to fire the coach (or Wang did) and that’s that. And hell, if Garth was asked tough questions, everyone in the NHL knows he would dance around it as much as possible, be really vague and give us little to no info.

Good for Islander fans for wanting answers, though. Problem is, they’re just bothering the wrong person. And good for LaGreca for sticking up for himself. He’s certainly got a point.
